What is a TPO?
A Tree Preservation Order (TPO), protects trees and woodland from deliberate damage and/or destruction, including felling and uprooting. Carrying out management work without permission could result in a fine of up to £20k, so it’s important to make sure that everything’s dealt with properly. At Marshall’s, we can make sure you’re aware of the options and your responsibilities, to make sure that you remain compliant.
Working on TPO trees
Please be aware that the landowner is responsible for any care and upkeep of a TPO tree. If you do want to work on protected tree, you will need to apply for permission. This normally needs to be done 6-8 weeks in advance so that the Local Planning Authority has time to review the details. Assessment by a tree surgeon can aid the application, which is just one of the ways we can help.
